I am a psychotherapist specializing in individual and couples therapy. I received my BA from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and my Masters in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work in New York. In addition to my education, training, and professional background, I bring a substantial breath of life experience to my practice. This has enhanced my ability to help others address a wide range of issues.
We are all unique with our own challenges and way of processing our experiences. I believe that we all possess an inherent power of inner emotional strength. That strength is always there, but at times, we have difficulty accessing it. Our life experiences may have impacted how we see ourselves and the world around us. Life transitions can bring joy and happiness, but also stress and pain from within and outside ourselves. Individuals may seek help and relief from struggles that are contributing to pain, feeling stuck, and preventing them from feeling an inner sense of peace and reaching their full potential. These struggles can also impact our daily lives and our relationships.
Through my compassion, acceptance and warmth, I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for healing. Clients may seek help coping with anxiety, fear, panic, obsessive compulsive thoughts and behavior (OCD), PTSD, depression and mood issues. Life transition crises related to career, relationships, health, and loss of a loved one can be overwhelming.
In working with couples, I help them overcome obstacles impacting their relationship. Communication or intimacy difficulties can be a source of tremendous stress. Marital infidelity, separation or divorce can bring up intense feelings of depression, anxiety, abandonment and loss.
In my therapeutic relationship with clients, I incorporate a multidimensional, holistic treatment approach. I work collaboratively with them to focus on strengths, courage and hope. We work together to help gain self acceptance, insight and clarity within oneself and relationships. We focus on specific goals for treatment and developing healthy skills to face personal, family and life struggles. Practicing positive thought patterns and strategies for coping with emotional pain is fundamental. My holistic approach to therapy is integrated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution Oriented Therapies, Traditional Psychotherapy, well as Mind Body Awareness and Meditation/ Relaxation techniques. My treatment with couples utilizes Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My hope is to nurture each person's unique strengths and character, leading to inner peace and a true authentic self.
