After experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, most people have painful memories. For many, the effects of the event fade as time progresses. But for others, these memories, thoughts, and feelings don't go away - even months or years after the event is over, which is typically known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
At Lotus Counseling Center, our team offers several forms of psychotherapy that have proven to be successful in helping deal with PTSD. One of these techniques is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is considered one of the most effective treatments for PTSD. We also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which involves focusing on sounds or hand movements while you talk about the trauma.
